I never promised you a Rose Garnish
Posted by Sarah Drake >> Leave a commentMy husband is responsible for upping the drinking ante in our house. We don’t drink more, we just drink better. Before I met him, the fanciest wine I drank was a bottle of Sanford chardonnay. Which is really good. But, sort of easy. Coming from California’s wine country, it wasn’t too hard to pick out a nice bottle of wine- just pick one from one of the wineries we’d visited, and you’d do okay.
Since moving to Chicago, we’ve been exposed to some of the best restaurants in the world, and Seth currently works within the restaurant group responsible for Avec, Publican, Blackbird, among others. This is adapted from our friend Kyle’s Juliet and Romeo, who developed the amazing cocktail menu over at Violet Hour. I had to try it for myself. But, I’m a California girl, and we like margaritas, so I decided to change up the alcohol from Gin to Tequila, and garnish it with rose petals, and I think I might have put together the perfect summer cocktail..
I never promised you a Rose Garnish:
Makes 2 : (don’t drink alone!)
4 oz. Silver Tequila ( I like Milagro)
2 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
1 1/4 oz. of Agave or simple syrup
6 drops of rose water
couple dashes of bitters
mint and rose petals for garnish
shake with ice and serve
top with one more drop of rose water and bitters
Shot in my backyard by the talented Julia Franzosa.
