playing with purple

Bet you thought emerald was the universal color of the year, didn’t you? Well surprise surprise, it isn’t. In Norway, it’s PURPLE! Back in late 2012 we were tapped by a Scandinavian design company to style a color-of-the-year campaign for the Norwegian market, so we got down to business and played with some purple!

editorial flashback >> Jordan and Kayla

It’s a new year and we’re having a little retrospective over here at Kit This. In order to move forward, you have to look at where you’ve been and what you’ve done, right? It’s been fun to look back. We’ve met and worked with some amazing people, we’ve learned a lot, and we’ve done some work that we’re proud of and that we really, really love. So let’s take a little trip down memory lane.

First up, Jordan and Kayla from March 2010, shot by Erika Dufour.

We loved this story. The twin-like moments in the styling;  the backdrop (conceived and executed, on the spot, by Erika and her team); the relationship between Jordan and Kayla.

It’s Friday, friends, time to free the spirit (and the mind :) )  Here’s a gorgeously photographed & styled editorial from Harper’s Bazaar UK.  The ethnic patterns and cosmopolitan & bohomian mix of stylings of Free Spirit is one psychedelic feast for the eyes…photographed by David Bellemere & styled by Samuel Francois.  Enjoy & have a great weekend!

Rue Does Texas

Posted by brandon >> Leave a comment

Have you seen the latest issue of Rue Magazine yet? It’s the Texas issue, y’all! And that’s our* shot on the cover. Yee haw!

When Rue’s EIC, Crystal, first tasked us with producing a Texas-themed fashion story, I’ll confess that we were a little thrown. What did we know about Texas or Texas fashion? After we tossed around a number of ideas (admittedly a number of them involving denim and even horses), we started thinking about Texas as the home of Neiman Marcus. Once we embraced this angle, a whole ladylike-theme quickly emerged. They’re ladies, but they’re our kinda ladies.

You’ll have to head over to Ruemag.com to see the story in its entirety  (pgs 66-85), but we’ll give you a little taste here with this AWESOME video by our new friends Chris and Kristen Barker of We Are the Barkers.

And here’s a few behind-the-scenes moments from what was one of the funnest days of shooting I think we’ve ever had!
