guest post by Sarah Drake: 2012…the year of the lady

I’m so excited to be guest blogging here at Kit This. A and B just have that knack for choosing special pieces that you just want to wear, and seriously, I’m honored to be part of it. I write about inspiration on my blog, and how the world around me inspires my designs.
Maybe it was kick started last year with a special royal wedding, and that return to classic elegance, but now that we are well into 2012, the lady-like influences seem to be all around us, and women are embracing their inner miss with cloches, clutches, highwaisted everything, and sweet little slides.
If you were like me, you fell in love with all things Downton Abbey, particulary Lady Mary Crawley, and her famously leisurely lifestyle, opening her mail from a silver tray.  I mean, what’s more lady-like than writing a well – penned note? Getting out your personalized cotton stationery, a favorite pen, and a thoughtful selection of stamps not only makes it easy to put your sentiments on paper, but seems to baffle the notes’ receiver, as a hand-written note really is so seldom sent. If I drop a thank you note in the mail, I without fail get an astonished text or call, always thanking me for the thank you note.

Details are everything, and if you are a paper snob like me, you know that textured cotton stock, painted edges, and tissue lined envelopes really make a difference in stationery.

Check back with me next month, and in the meantime, tell me how you embrace your inner lady.
